Transitions

I haven’t written here for a couple of weeks because I’ve been waiting until the time felt right to talk about the big thing that has been on my mind. After twelve wonderful years in Kirkland, we're returning to our roots in Wenatchee. We're currently in the process of buying a house there and we're looking forward to being closer to family, getting reacquainted with old friends, and being near all the outdoor activities we love.

This change is bittersweet. I've never lived in one location as long as I've been in Kirkland, so I feel like it's as much my home as where I grew up.

We have loved Kirkland and always will. It's a special community and we have been blessed with the best neighbors. My husband will continue to work for the same company, remotely, and our daughter will still live here, so we're not really saying goodbye. We'll still be around, visiting often.

Meanwhile, as we transition, we’re now in a time of waiting and praying the whole real estate process goes smoothly. When I’m not organizing and packing, I’ve occupied myself with reading some incredible books (shared below). I’ve also included some photos that tell the story of the first part of this new year.

From the 2021 inaugural poet, Amanda Gorman. I read a poem a day. She has a beautiful and truthful way of naming the feelings so many of us have had over the last couple of years of the pandemic.

This book made me think about my core values and how I’m living them out. I highly recomend it.

The second time I read this book. It’s that good. A mixture of poetry and pep talks that offer reminders I need.

Brene Brown’s newest book was full of wisdom and insight into the language of feelings.

Bridle Trails state park, where I walk each day. I’m going to miss this place.

Dinner out at my favorite place in Bellevue called Cypress Lounge. The red purse is a gift from a dear friend.

A fun style guide that made me want to go to Paris!

I took this picture soon after we made the decision to make an offer on a house in Wenatchee. That sky…when I saw it, I felt like God was sending me a message, reminding me of his extravagant love.

The backyard shed…a place to write, do yoga, or just have some quiet time. It will be hard to say goodbye to this.

This will be my new view from my new house. I will probably spend a lot of time staring out the window.

Common Prayer by Shane Claiborne. I use this book daily and I love it.

Home. I’ve been trying to take lots of pictures and appreciate what a wonderful place this has been for the last twelve years.

Let the packing begin.
