Moments of Gratitude 2.28.22

In February we moved from Kirkland to Wenatchee. Both cities are in Washington state, and they’re about two and half hours away from each other. Wenatchee is where I’m from, and Kirkland is where I’ve made my home for the last twelve years. I love both places, yet I never expected to move back to Wenatchee. We weren’t specifically looking to make a change, but the way everything fell into place so easily, the agreement my husband and I both felt about our decision, and the peace we felt about it told us that it was the right one to make. I’ve seen the realization of some of my deepest heart’s desires in a short span of time, and it has left me in awe of God’s extravagant love.

Shortly before moving, Covid hit our household. That was hard, not only because we were sick, but because we didn’t get a chance to say goodbye to friends in Kirkland. We’re all healthy now—a good thing—because we’ve been working hard. I forgot how much work moving was! We packed up everything ourselves and loaded a rental truck on February 10th, and just now, it finally feels like we’re coming up for air after a deep dive into the world of home improvement and setting up a house.

The biggest project was the floors. We had the carpet replaced with wood. We were at a stand-still on everything else until those were done. It was noisy and messy, but completely worth it. I love the way they look now!

Today, I was able to get back to work on my current work-in-progress, a contemporary Christmas romance novel, and it felt good—so normal. I’m also excited to get back to regularly updating this blog.

The following pictures are from this past month…

I didn’t think we had a lot of stuff. I was wrong.

My view from my dining room. Pinch me.

Our new bedroom was the first room in the house to be finished.

My adult daughter’s room. I can’t wait for her to come visit!

Furniture takes a long time to get right now, but the most important piece is already here.

I took down the wallpaper and re-painted my new office.

In-process floors…

We took a break over President’s Day weekend and visited friends. They’re much closer now!

Our new home.

Being close to family is the best.

My books are unpacked!

Twins. Not really, but sisters.
